Good evening!
It's already the end of module four?! Where did the semester go? This semester has flown by. Last week we all presented on our various group topics. Overall, I think everybody did a good job. We are down the home stretch with only one more group project left to go! I think we gained a lot of insight from our focus groups about what the kids like and dislike. They are not afraid to speak their minds and say things how they see them, which is honest and helpful so we can better tailor messages to them. I think we as a group learned from this and our project three will be more refined and polished.
I liked all the groups use of technology such as twitter, facebook and youtube. These channels were unheard of a few years ago and now they are some of our audience's main source of communication. Personally, I enjoyed all of the "low" involvement adds because they either were funny or fearful and I think this route can reach a large population.
The top three insights I took away for Module 4 were: the importance of media channels, news/media advocacy & agenda setting. The healh advertising: prevention for profit was a very interesting article and fit nicely with Rob's guest lecture. The news/media advocacy was a nice segue to Asher's lecture about agenda setting. What I took away from agenda setting was it is far more complex and intricate, and is even moreso convoluted when it comes to agenda setting in the international platform.
