Hello everyone

THis week's lecture about branding was interesting. I liked the simple tagline/ images that Sheila presented in class- "Drunk driving parking spot" picture and the "Where's your child"- picture of child at bottom of pool. I thought those images and simple words did a great job at bringing the point across effectively. Also the discussion on how to frame the message was interesting, especially the question about saving lives when they were essentially the same probability. I have seen that example drawn up before and it's interesting to see how/why people choose one over the other. This definitely highlights the importance of framing your brand/ message in a manner that reaches more of your target population.

Also, Iliana's article presentation about the VERB campaign for promotion of physical activity among children/ adolescents was especially stood out because it is related to our own intervention project. At first the name "VERB- it's what you do" seemed a little silly when she was describing it, but when I saw the commercial that was played on Nickelodeon, I think they did a good job at promoting physical activity in that target age group, especially by having a girl their age they can relate to that emphasizes the "fun" component, not competition, but evereyone can participate. It will be fun when we come up with our own brand/ logo/ image for our similar target audience of kids.
